Calendar Sync
If you list on Airbnb, VRBO, or another platform alongside KynStay, calendar sync keeps everything in step. Import external calendars so blocked dates appear automatically, and export your KynStay calendar so bookings flow back the other way.
Why sync matters
Double-bookings are the nightmare scenario for any host. If your cousin books your cabin on KynStay for the 4th of July, but it's still showing as available on Airbnb, a stranger could book the same dates. Calendar sync prevents this by keeping availability aligned across every platform automatically.
KynStay uses the iCal standard (the same format used by Airbnb, VRBO, Booking.com, Google Calendar, and virtually every booking platform). This means it works with any platform that supports iCal feeds — no special integration required.
Importing External Calendars
Importing brings your existing availability into KynStay. Dates that are blocked or booked on another platform will automatically appear as blocked on your KynStay calendar.
Get your iCal URL from the other platform
On Airbnb, go to Calendar → Availability → "Export Calendar" and copy the iCal link. On VRBO, look under Calendar Settings → "iCal Export." Other platforms have similar options — look for "Export Calendar," "iCal feed," or "Subscribe URL."
Add it to KynStay
Go to your property's Calendar page and look for the sync panel. Give the source a name (e.g., "Airbnb"), select the platform type, and paste the iCal URL. KynStay validates the URL and begins importing the calendar in the background.
Blocked dates appear automatically
Imported blocked dates show up on your KynStay calendar with a label indicating which platform they came from. Guests won't be able to request those dates. If a reservation is cancelled on the other platform, the blocked dates are removed on KynStay during the next sync.
How often does it sync?
KynStay automatically re-syncs imported calendars every few hours to catch changes. You can also trigger a manual sync at any time from the calendar page. If an import fails (bad URL, platform down), KynStay shows you the error so you can fix it.
Exporting Your KynStay Calendar
Exporting lets your other platforms see KynStay bookings. When your cousin books your cabin on KynStay, the dates show as blocked on Airbnb automatically.
Copy your KynStay export URL
On your property's Calendar page, you'll find a unique export URL. This is a private, token-based link — anyone with the URL can read your availability, but they can't modify anything. You can regenerate the token at any time if needed.
Add it to your other platform
On Airbnb, go to Calendar → Availability → "Import Calendar" and paste the URL. On VRBO, look for "Import" under Calendar Settings. The process is the same for any platform that accepts iCal feeds.
What gets exported
Good to know
Currently, all manually blocked dates on KynStay are automatically included in your export feed. This means if you block dates on KynStay, they'll also be blocked on any connected platform. If you want to keep certain dates available on Airbnb while blocking them on KynStay (for example, to hold dates for family without affecting your public listings), this isn't possible yet — but it's something we're working on.
How double-bookings are prevented
KynStay uses multiple layers of protection to prevent overlapping stays:
Imported blocks
Dates booked on Airbnb or VRBO appear as blocked on KynStay, so guests can't request those dates.
Booking validation
Even if sync is delayed, KynStay checks for conflicts when a booking request is submitted. If the dates overlap with an existing booking or blocked period, the request is rejected.
Exported bookings
KynStay bookings are exported to your other platforms, so strangers can't book the same dates on Airbnb.

KynStay works with any platform that uses the iCal standard, including:

Google Calendar
If your platform isn't listed, it almost certainly still works — choose "Other" as the source type when adding the iCal feed. The iCal format is universal.
